1. Header with company details and stub number
It opens the Tabbed Card. The Tabbed Card names the business here: company name, address, and the EIN and phone if you give them. A logo, when you upload one, sits in this block.
Paystub Template
Every part of this pay stub sits in its own outlined panel, with the panel’s name set into its top border like a tab.

The header has the company name, address, EIN and phone on the left, and an “Earnings Statement” title with the stub number on the right, over a solid rule. Employee and Pay Period panels sit side by side; the Pay Period panel also shows the total hours worked.
Below them is a two-column grid: Earnings and Taxes on the left, Deductions and Summary on the right. Taxes (federal, state, Social Security, Medicare, local) and your other deductions are in separate panels, each with its own total. The Summary panel sets gross taxable pay, taxes and deductions, and reimbursement against their YTD figures, and ends on a shaded net pay row.

Best for
Hourly workers who want their total hours on the stub, and anyone who needs taxes separated from benefit or retirement deductions. The outlined panels make each group easy to find on a printout.
Overview
The Tabbed Card Pay Stub Template is a modern cards layout: rounded cards or tiles, with net pay as a card or bar. Outlined panels with tab-style labels, taxes split from other deductions, and a summary panel.
From top to bottom it runs header with company details and stub number, employee panel, pay Period panel with total hours and earnings panel, and then the rest of the stub. You fill it in once in the builder, the taxes and totals are worked out for you, and the finished pay stub downloads as a PDF.

Section by section
It opens the Tabbed Card. The Tabbed Card names the business here: company name, address, and the EIN and phone if you give them. A logo, when you upload one, sits in this block.
The second block on the Tabbed Card. The person paid: name, address, employee ID and the masked SSN (only the last four digits print). Check the spelling here against an ID before you download.
The third block on the Tabbed Card. Period start and end, pay date and frequency. On the Tabbed Card these read as the stub’s facts, so a reader can match it to a bank deposit before reading the figures.
The fourth block on the Tabbed Card. Each kind of pay on its own line: regular hours, overtime, bonus, commission or tips, with rate and hours where they apply. Rate × hours should equal each current amount, and the lines add up to gross pay.
The fifth block on the Tabbed Card. Taxes and deductions. The Tabbed Card lists federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare, any state or local tax, and the deductions you add by name. Their total is what separates gross pay from net pay.
The sixth block on the Tabbed Card. What came out of gross pay: federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, state and local tax where they apply, then your own deductions such as a health plan or retirement. The builder estimates the taxes; every line stays editable.
It closes the Tabbed Card. The year so far. On the Tabbed Card, YTD totals sum every pay date in the calendar year up to and including this one, so consecutive stubs should step up by each period’s figures.

The tax lines are estimated from the pay, frequency, filing status and state you enter, and you can change any of them. How paycheck taxes are calculated explains each one, and the pay stub glossary defines every abbreviation on the stub.
Colours
The Tabbed Card comes in Pewter grey, Slate grey, Emerald, Harbor blue, Plum, Ember red and Black & white, with Pewter grey as its standard colour. The colour you choose recolours the accents (card headers, tinted totals and the net pay bar); the figures and layout stay the same, and every colour is included in the price.
Document type
The Tabbed Card is laid out as a pay stub: the short, practical record that comes with a paycheck or direct deposit. Payroll systems also call the same record an earnings statement or pay slip; the contents do not change with the name: who was paid, for which period, gross pay, each tax and deduction, net pay and the year to date.
Best use
The Tabbed Card breaks the stub into cards with totals that stand out, which reads well on a small screen and in a PDF viewer.
The Tabbed Card prints the full set of withholding lines (federal, Social Security, Medicare, state) for a W-2 employee’s stub.
The Tabbed Card prints year-to-date figures in “Summary panel with net pay and YTD”, so a run of consecutive stubs shows the year building up period by period.
Compare
The Tabbed Card belongs to the Modern cards family, with Classic Blue, Detailed Blue, Tile Grid and Banner Card. They share the same overall order; what sets the Tabbed Card apart is outlined panels with tab-style labels, taxes split from other deductions, and a summary panel.

Print and PDF
Rounded cards and tinted totals carry the colour you pick, so it looks best printed in colour or opened as a PDF on a screen; in black and white the cards still keep their borders. The PDF is made from the same layout you see in the preview, so what you check is what you get.
Need several periods? The multi-stub builder makes consecutive stubs in this layout with year-to-date totals carried forward, and the sample pay stub walks through every line with real figures.

How it works
Open the builder with the Tabbed Card already selected (the “Use This Template” button does this).
Enter the company and the person paid; the business prints in the “Header with company details and stub number” block.
Add the pay period, pay date and each kind of pay; the lines fill “Earnings panel”.
Check the estimated taxes and add your own deductions (they print in “Taxes panel with total taxes”); every amount can be edited.
Pick a colour (Pewter grey, Slate grey and Emerald or another), preview the whole stub, then download the PDF.
